History of the Jarvis Family

Dr. James Edmond Reeves and his sister Ann Marie Jarvis were instrumental in saving thousands of lives by teaching women basic nursing and sanitation skills. They formed the Mothers Friendship Clubs as a way to educate women in many communities.

Ann Marie had 13 children, of whom only 4 survived to adulthood. Only 1 of those children married. He had 1 son, and that son married and had 4 children - 3 boys and 1 girl - who were Ann Marie's great-grandchildren.

The last surviving family member of Granville E. and Ann M. Jarvis died in 1994.

The Jarvis Family Reunion is held every year on the last Saturday in June. The reunion is held in the park across from the Anna Jarvis Birthplace, starting at 12 noon.
